We stayed at Lewis Longhorn Ranch night before last. They have all kinds of animals besides the longhorn cattle, which they show. I took a few pics that might be of interest. We stayed at the Smith Cattle Company last night near Limon, CO.
Today, we rode up to Atwater Cattle Co. The scenery is mostly grass land with cactus scattered everywhere. It has been wetter here than in the past few years, and everything is green. A pleasant change from the desert. We rode all day today without seeing a rattlesnake, which is very unusual. Yesterday four were sighted.
We are about 70 miles from Pike’s Peak and could see it in the distance at the Lewis Longhorn Ranch. Mr. Lewis said at New Years, there are fireworks fired from the peak, and he has a party every year to watch them. The ride tomorrow will about 20 miles up a dirt road toward Limon. Mike and I are both still doing well. Domino, whom Mike is riding, is getting a little of his weight back and more muscle. Smokey still has a few bumps on his back. Will talk to you later.
Love,
Wanda Phillips, Core Rider
