Cowboy Camp NATRC Competitive Trail Ride
Cowboy Camp Ride Description:
NATRC sanctioned Competitive Trail Ride. Also, Region One Benefit Ride for 2015. Location is at the Cowboy Camp Trailhead located in Cache Creek area which is managed as a primitive area. Tule elk herds have returned to this area after an absence of 100 years! Tule elk are native to CA and are not seen anywhere else in the world. Two day ride for Open and CP divisions and 1 day ride for Novice. The ride is primarily single tracks over varying terrain with some creek crossings. This ride has easy access from Interstate 5 and camping is in a large meadow that has room for all types of rigs. This is an easy drive from the Bay Area (Hwy 5 to Hwy 20, then 1 mile on Hwy 16). NATRC Competitive Trail Ride information for Region 1 is available at www.natrcregion1.org. The entry form (PDF) is downloadable from this site. Pot Luck dinner Friday evening after check in and a catered dinner is available Sat. evening for an additional fee. Raffle and silent auction will be held Sat. evening as a fund raiser for NATRC. NATRC (North American Trail Ride Conference) offers sanctioned competitive trail rides throughout the U.S. Rides are based on condition & soundness of the horse & the rider’s performance not speed. Riders travel a pre-timed course over a variety of terrain. Pace and distance are determined by the division entered. 3 divisions allow competition for riders at different experience levels. First time competitors are always welcome.
